Magellan has recently announced a new model in the eXplorist GPS series, the eXplorist 110. The new GPS appears designed to compete with the Garmin eTrex 10, the cheapest version of the new eTrex models.
The eXplorist 110 will have the following features:
- Sunlight-readable color display
- Pre-loaded World Edition map including a road network of 200 countries
- All the typical core GPS functions like trip computers, track recording, back-track capability, etc.
- Support of paperless geocaching
With a color display and pre-loaded map, and with a retail price of $129.99, the eXplorist 110 would appear to be a much better value-buy than the eTrex 10, which has a black-and-white screen and no map.
Visit the product page for complete specifications and user reviews of the eXplorist 110.

Thanks for this post. I'm looking for a gps. How is the PC software and map sets for south america?
For better international maps, go with a Garmin GPS, especially one that is custom map compatible like the Dakota or Oregon series.
I owned the Etrex 20 (the colour screen model) -I sold it. Screen unreadable in outdoor settings (sunlight or shade) without using the backlight. Software froze frequently, and user-interface/button placement non-intuitive. The Magellan 110 is a winner on all counts -price/display/UI and base-map is included.
